Serving Gardeners and Contractors Since 1924

                  A.J. Cameron Sod Farms Inc.

Cameron’s was founded in 1924 by Al Cameron who started one of New England’s first sod producing companies.

While the sod business continued to grow, the company expanded its business into areas that today include hydro-seeding and commercial landscape installation throughout New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Southern Maine.

Cameron’s works directly with companies that are at the forefront of innovations in the landscaping industry and is constantly working on providing the best product for our customers.

Our company constantly endeavors to improve and modernize our equipment and knowledge as new innovations are presented.

Another area Cameron’s branched out to was sawing timber that was harvested from the local area and supplying lumber to many homes and factories that were under construction. To this day, Cameron’s continues to produce lumber at our sawmill, and with modernization over the past few years, we have grown to be one of the biggest suppliers of Grade Stakes in New England.

In seeing the need in the area for a home and garden center, Cameron’s expanded its Rt. 11 location and opened a garden center and hardware store.

We have a fully stocked lumber yard (many of which were cut right at our own sawmill), full-service building supply, and bulk materials such as loam, mulch, compost, sand, stone, and other aggregate mixes. We also provide delivery to most locations (delivery fees will vary).

Cameron’s Garden Center provides personal service and expertise to help you with your gardening needs year-round.

At Cameron’s, customer satisfaction is our number one priority because without you, the customer, we would not be where we are today.

Through hard work, long hours, and a commitment to quality, this 3rd generation family-owned business has succeeded in providing superior service to our customers and will continue to do so for many years to come. While the faces have changed, the commitment to our customers will always be at the forefront of our business.

                  Management Team

                  Fred Cameron, President

Fred started working in the sod fields for his dad, company founder A.J. Cameron, when he was 9 years old. In those days, the business was mostly about sod production and Cameron’s supplied sod all across New England. The only time Fred has not been working at Cameron’s was when he left to serve his country as a United States Marine in Vietnam.

Fred and his brothers, Don and Bill, helped the company expand and grow during the 1970’s and the 1980’s. When the company began landscape installations, Fred assumed the role of estimating, coordinating, and managing landscape installations throughout the region and landscaped some of the largest projects in New England.

Today, Fred is still the leader of our team, leaving the road to assume day to day management of the company. He can be found in the back office working the phones or driving out to job sites to meet with his sons, Scott and Steven, and general contractors. With his vast hands-on knowledge of the industry, Fred is the go-to person for advice and guidance and freely shares his knowledge with anyone that asks.

                  Scott Cameron, Vice President

Scott is Fred’s oldest son and one of the owners of Cameron’s. Scott has been working here since he started landscaping at the age of 12. He earned his Associate of Applied Science in Landscape Horticulture from the Thompson School of Applied Science at the University of New Hampshire. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture from University of Massachusetts – Amherst.

Scott is a project foreman primarily for large-scale commercial landscaping projects. As a loyal Patriots fan, he was proud to spend two summers as the foreman for the landscape construction project at Gillette Stadium before its grand opening in 2002.

                  Steven Cameron, Treasurer

Steven is Fred’s youngest son and one of the owners of Cameron’s. Steven has been working full-time with us since graduating from Farmington High School. Steven has managed many landscaping, seeding and sod projects. Steven is also our sawyer when we run our saw mill in the winter months.

Both Scott and Steven manage our saw mill and stake mill operations in the winter months.

                  Darin Guyer, General Manager

Darin plays a critical role in the management of our operations. He has broad and extensive experience in the landscape trade, which has been a tremendous asset for the variety of responsibilities he has at Cameron’s. As General Manager, Darin’s role includes landscape estimating, hydro-seed sales and estimates, scheduling, and managing many of the day to day operations. Darin started at Cameron’s working seasonally while earning his Associate of Applied Science at the University of New Hampshire. He went on to earn Bachelors in Management at Daniel Webster College. He is a Veteran of the US Navy.

                  Skip Thompson

Skip has been with us since graduating from Farmington High School in 1983. He is our expert hydro-seeding applicator, logging thousands of miles each year seeding, mulching, and matting hundreds of acres of land for homeowners and contractors. Skip had worked on residential projects as well as large projects for local, state, and federal agencies throughout New England. He has a wealth of knowledge relating to the use and proper application of the products he installs and is often called upon to test new products and methods for various manufacturers. He has over 30 years of experience hydro-seeding for Cameron’s.
